Case study: Hashimoto’s & chronic fatigue
Anne had been diagnosed with Hashimoto’s and thought that was causing her fatigue and low metabolism, even though her thyroid markers were normal. However, once we tested, we found cortisol crashes and low levels of the mood-boosting and energizing brain chemicals. By using supplements to balance these out, she got herself back!
Case study: PMDD
Suzanna was having severe PMS symptoms; after our appointment, she talked to her therapist and got an accurate diagnosis of PMDD (the labels don’t matter for the holistic approach since we’re targeting root causes, but they do matter for being taken seriously in the conventional medical system!). We had already supported her sex hormones and nutrients, so it was time to check on her brain! Unsurprisingly, testing showed imbalances in the neurotransmitters tied to sex hormones, and depression-causing imbalances in multiple neurotransmitters. After balancing these, she had her first symptom-free premenstrual week in years.
Case Study: Perimenopause
Dana was already taking hormones for her hot flashes, low libido, and low mood but she still felt irritable and not like herself. She felt like “her brain was broken.” Because cortisol and neurotransmitters are tied to perimenopause symptoms (in fact, a popular hot-flash medication directly works on the neurotransmitter serotonin), she decided to test! Results showed multiple imbalances in cortisol (stress signaling) and the entire serotonin pathway, not just serotonin alone. After supporting these, she is sleeping through the night, mood is stable, and she is feeling connected to her spouse again.
Case study: anxiety, restless legs, insomnia
Katy thought she must need a new anxiety medication for breakthrough panic attacks, but decided to try the holistic route first.
Once she tested neurotransmitters, we found elevations in the brain chemicals that cause panic attacks, unease, insomnia and restless legs. One single targeted supplement resolved her symptoms and she hasn’t had a panic attack since.
Case study: chronic GI issues
Cassandra had chronic bloating, gut infections and contstipation. She’d already seen multiple holistic coaches and naturopathic doctors, and tried everything.
Despite a good diet and healthy lifestyle, we found that her neurotransmitters were extremely imbalanced. Her labs showed a deficiency in the neurotransmitters that cause gut motility and regular bowel movements; that slow environment allows for bacterial overgrowth and bloating and indigestion. Cassie feels like she finally got her life back and isn’t stressed about meals anymore.
Case study: mystery & ADHD-type symptoms
Janna’s body felt off, but no doctor would take her seriously because her conventional labs were normal. They told her she was just tired and stressed because she was a mom. She decided to test her brain hormones and felt so validated by the results, she actually started crying (I would have too!). Her test was reflective of a genetic mutation that causes the brain to use up certain neurotransmitters more quickly, meaning your brain feels like it barely has any. No wonder everything felt overwhelming, and it was hard to focus and be motivated. She canceled her psychiatry appointment evaluating for ADHD because she felt so much better after rebalancing.
Everyone I work with says they’ve already tried multiple things, or tried everything. If this is what you’re thinking—I guarantee you’ll be surprised!
