Frequently Asked Questions

What is an ND?

NDs are naturopathic doctors. NDs are trained as primary care physicians (to order labs, imaging, write prescriptions, perform minor surgery, etc) and then most go on to choose an area of focus, such as gastrointestinal or women’s health. ND medical school is similar to MD medical school with less focus on drugs and a greater focus on natural methods. You can learn more here.

How can I find a holistic doctor? What are the different types of holistic doctors?

I address this all in my Find a Doc page!

Who do I work with?

Adults 18+ with persistent health problems! I welcome women, men, nonbinary individuals, LGBTQ. No matter your sex, orientation, race or background, you are welcome here.

Why do I do what I do?

I became an ND because I’ve been bedbound and hopeless. I got out by accepting the helping hands of others and becoming my body’s own expert, and I want you to get out and get your life back too.

What is the setup of how I work with people in the Surviving to Thriving Method?

I don’t believe the most efficient healing comes from waiting from appointment to pre-scheduled-in-advance appointment. I believe in providing you constant access to support, always giving you a “why” and an understanding for everything on the healing journey, and in working closely with you—I care about your wellbeing and you are not just a number on an insurance-packed schedule.

What is my spiritual/religious stance?

I work with Christians, Catholics, atheists, and everyone in between. Personally, I am spiritual. I don’t identify with any organized religion. I believe that Source/God/Mother Nature/The Universe is love, and I believe in the power of love and positive energy to help you on your recovery journey. People of all beliefs and religions are welcome here. One of the areas we look at is the health of your soul/spirit, in whatever way that shows up for you!

What additional training do I have outside of naturopathic medical school?

I mentored for 2 years with a Shoemaker (CIRS) doctor, and I trained with Dr. Horowitz. I’ve worked in a chronic illness clinic that specialized in mystery illness, mold, and infectious disease. I’ve worked in a general naturopathic care clinic. I’ve studied energy medicine, holistic psychology, and nervous system regulation. I love to incorporate and blend all my trainings.

Do I have testimonials?

Yes, you can see all the success stories here!

Is there anything outside of diet and supplements, or is that it?

In my eyes, a healing approach is more about an expert-crafted roadmap and what’s being addressed in what order—lots of people try certain supplements to “lower histamine” and get their B vitamins up for example, but they’re not strategically unplugging the peripheral detox pathways first and they’re methylating their histamine with their B complex (getting histamine stuck in a toxic intermediary state). And aside from supplements and nutrition, I look at specialty labs, lifestyle practices, hormones, brain rewiring, and I guide people on next-level therapies if needed, such as IVs, non-steroid joint infections, and functional pharmaceuticals. When appropriate, I even dive into trapped emotions, hidden beliefs, and soul-level energetic healing!
